Sakkari Rehires Tom Hill, Coach Who Led Her to World No. 3
Maria Sakkari and Tom Hill ended their six-year collaboration in February 2024. But just over a year after their split, they are set to work together again, as revealed by the Greek media outlet SDNA.
Hill had helped the Greek player establish herself as a Top 10 mainstay, reaching a career-high world No. 3 ranking in 2021. That same year, she also reached two Grand Slam semifinals at Roland-Garros and the US Open.
Since their partnership ended, Sakkari has experienced a steep drop in the rankings, currently sitting at No. 82 in the world. She has yet to win back-to-back matches in the ten tournaments she has played this season.
With the return of a coach who knows her perfectly, she will undoubtedly hope to climb back up the rankings and return to her best form.
As for Tom Hill, he has ended his partnership with American player Peyton Stearns.
