Serena Williams admits to keeping secrets from Venus despite their unique bond

They grew up together, dominated world tennis, but could never tell each other everything. In an exclusive interview, Serena Williams lifts the veil on the secrets she had to keep from her sister Venus... despite their deep love. Heart-wrenching revelations about the behind-the-scenes of an extraordinary rivalry.

In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Serena Williams made a poignant confession: despite their unbreakable bond, some truths have always been kept hidden between the two sisters.

"Even though we are very close, we had to keep a lot of things secret because of our profession. Even though she's my sister, she's also my opponent, and you can't be as open as you would like."

For her part, Venus acknowledged the toughness of their shared journey, while emphasizing the importance of their upbringing in this dynamic:

"We don't necessarily coddle each other. We weren't coddled in life. [...] Life is very real. So the message has to be real."

This no-frills, truth-based love has guided their relationship. But behind this strength lies a sense of solitude, one of two immense champions caught in a spiral of expectations, pressure, and rivalry, far beyond mere blood ties.
