Seriously? Why me among all these guys?" Noah reflects on his role as captain at the Laver Cup

Yannick Noah will replace Bjorn Borg as captain for the 2025 edition of the Laver Cup, the competition created by Federer. A choice that surprised the man himself, who spoke on TNT:
"I was on the beach in Cameroon, and suddenly, I got a message saying: 'Yannick, we thought of you for the Laver Cup.' I replied: You want me to be a ball boy? I was very surprised. It was so unexpected. Then I got a call telling me: 'We spoke with Roger. It’d be great if you were captain.' I answered: Seriously? Why me among all these guys?
That’s how it all started. I was very honored to be chosen. We then talked about having someone else. I’m the captain, but the real captain is Tim (Henman, vice-captain), because he’s the one who really knows tennis. I’m there for the vibe, and I’m really happy to share this experience with him.
Being captain of Team Europe is something huge. I was at the edge of the beach, and now, here we go. It’s serious. I went to Berlin last year to meet the guys and see how it works, to get a feel for the inside of the Laver Cup. I’m really excited. I want to win. We have to do it.
