Shang Juncheng, 19, won the Chengdu Open 2024 on Tuesday, overcoming Lorenzo Musetti in the final (7-6, 6-1). Considered one of the great hopefuls of world tennis, the young Chinese player won his very first ATP trophy, and at the same time became the first player born in 2005 or later to win an ATP title.
In doing so, he continues his ascent on the ATP Tour, and further confirms the high expectations placed in him. He is now very close to joining the Top 50 of the ATP rankings, having climbed 15 places thanks to this success and is now ranked 52nd in the world.
