"She chose the best partner with Carlos, that's for sure," Draper comments on Raducanu's US Open pick
Currently at Queen’s, Draper made his grass-court debut against Brooksby, a match he won comfortably (6-3, 6-1). In the press zone, the Brit answered numerous questions, including those related to the mixed doubles pairings announced by the US Open. While the 23-year-old will team up with China’s Zheng, he also commented on the pairing of his compatriot Raducanu and world No. 2 Alcaraz:
"Yeah, I mean, a wise person once told me you should find the best partner, and that’s what she’s done with Alcaraz. I don’t blame her at all (smiles). Yeah, I think she’ll have a lot of fun playing with him. He’s obviously the best player in the world right now, probably alongside Sinner. Great in doubles, too. I saw that with Rafa at the Olympics. She’s chosen the best partner, no doubt. Hopefully, they do well."
On the sporting front, Draper will face Popyrin for a spot in the quarterfinals. The two have met once on tour this year in Doha, where the world No. 5 came out on top (6-2, 7-6).
