She was very affected and didn't have time to process," Saville comes to Sabalenka's defense after Roland-Garros final
Aryna Sabalenka made headlines following her defeat in the Roland-Garros final and her comments directed at Coco Gauff. The player briefly addressed the situation on her social media before flying to Greece for a short vacation.
In the latest episode of the podcast produced by the Australian Open, world No. 129 Daria Saville defended Sabalenka:
"There was a lot of talk about this on social media, many opinions. I think she was deeply affected and didn’t have time to process. I’ve been in situations where I was frustrated after a match and had to go straight to a press conference.
She was very emotional on the court after the match and just expressed how she felt. I don’t think she could have seen things differently at that moment. She was genuinely hurt. I don’t know if rewatching the match would have changed her perspective.
