Shelton has big plans for his return: "I hope to get some good results and secure my spot at the ATP Finals"
After an absence due to a shoulder injury, Ben Shelton is making his big comeback at the Shanghai Masters 1000.
Absent from the tour since his withdrawal in the third round of the US Open against Adrian Mannarino, the American, ranked 6th in the world, has been able to treat his left shoulder injury and will make his entry at the Shanghai Masters 1000 against David Goffin in the second round.
In an interview with the ATP, the 22-year-old player, winner of the Toronto Masters 1000 this year, opens up about his return to competition as well as his goals for the end of the season, as he is currently 6th in the Race.
"It's getting better. Like with any injury, it takes some recovery time. I won't participate in any tournament if I don't feel ready, which is why I missed several events, but now I should be ready to play.
I'm really looking forward to it. This is the first time I've been in a good position at this time of the year to go to Turin. I hope to get a few more good results and secure my spot at the ATP Finals.
I'm very happy with how I've played this season and everything I've been able to achieve, but I'm not done yet, I still have things to accomplish in 2025, so we'll see where we are in a month.
You feel this peace and tranquility off the court. I spend a lot of time in the locker rooms talking to everyone, so I guess it's a good thing for me to be able to focus more easily here," he assured.
