Shelton wins American duel against Nakashima to advance to the quarterfinals at Indian Wells
Ben Shelton continues his impressive week at the Indian Wells Masters 1000, securing a spot in the quarterfinals after defeating Brandon Nakashima (7-6, 6-1).
Riding the momentum from his victories against Navone and Khachanov, Shelton was efficient on Stadium 2 to overcome his compatriot, greatly aided by his 26 winners throughout the match.
At 22 years old, he has become the youngest American quarterfinalist in the tournament since Andy Roddick in 2004. He will now compete for a place in the semifinals against Taylor Fritz or Jack Draper.
