Since the US Open, I've lost my rhythm": Shelton opens up after his Masters elimination

Since the US Open, I've lost my rhythm: Shelton opens up after his Masters elimination

In his first ATP Finals, Ben Shelton leaves with three defeats and a harsh reality: the American never regained the rhythm that made him one of the most dangerous players of the summer.

In his first ATP Finals, Ben Shelton was eliminated in the group stage with three losses. A disappointing outcome for the American, who arrived in Turin having played only three tournaments since his shoulder injury at the US Open.

He admitted to reporters that he never managed to recapture the dazzling level he showed during the American summer:

"It's tough to finish the season like this, with three losses at the ATP Finals. For me, it's been a fantastic year, without a doubt. There have been a lot of positives and tennis is full of ups and downs. All of this will motivate me to work even harder during the preseason.

Today, I didn't play well. Since the US Open, I think I've only played one good match, against Rublev in Paris. After being away from the courts for so long, I struggled to find my rhythm. Finding it again at the end of the year, when the others are in great form, is difficult.

There's a common thread in the three matches I played here: my opponents served better than I did. But that's not what worries me the most. I know I have a very good serve. You just have to recognize the merit of the other players who are in form at this end of the year. There were no easy matches in my group, and I was a bit below par.
