While the tennis world is divided over the ATP Tour's expansion into the Middle East, Jannik Sinner has chosen his side. From Vienna, the Italian welcomed the arrival of a new Masters 1000 in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for 2028.
Asked after his victory against Flavio Cobolli in the second round of the ATP 500 in Vienna, the Italian stated:
"I think this is the first time a Masters 1000 has been added. From my experience of that country, the population is young and the market can become very big. So I think it's a positive thing.
Let's see what it can bring to us, the players. It's an important event in terms of points and for those who are starting to play at this level. Even though we don't yet know exactly when this tournament will be played."
