Sinner crowned world number 1: "How many sacrifices we made".
On Monday, Jannik Sinner was officially crowned world number 1 for the 2024 season, in front of his home crowd in Turin. A strong favourite to win the Masters, Sinner was duly honoured, receiving the trophy from Boris Becker and the President of the ATP.
Interviewed in the press conference, the Italian spoke of the emotion felt by his parents, and his mother in particular, at the award ceremony.
He explained that his parents know better than anyone the extent of the sacrifices made to get to this point: "I heard that my mother was crying... it's very sweet. They're the only ones who know how many sacrifices we've made as a family."
