Sinner Crushes Galan to Begin Title Defense in Cincinnati

The men’s tour leader, Jannik Sinner, marked his return to competition in Cincinnati with a thunderous victory over Daniel Galan (6-1, 6-1).

Less than a month ago, Sinner claimed his fourth Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. After a long break, the world No. 1 kicked off his American tour in Ohio this Saturday, where he is the defending champion. Facing Galan, a qualifier, the Italian wasted no time.

He wrapped up the match in just 59 minutes, winning 30 of the 36 points played on his serve. The win served as an appetizer for Sinner before he faces either Sebastian Baez or Gabriel Diallo in the third round.
