Sinner Ends Atmane's Impressive Run in Cincinnati

Jannik Sinner proved relentless as he defeated Terence Atmane (7-6, 6-2) in the semifinals in Cincinnati.
The world No. 1 and defending champion in Ohio entered the match as the heavy favorite against Atmane, a qualifier ranked 136th in the ATP rankings. The Frenchman had fought his way into the final four with standout wins against Nishioka, Fonseca, Cobolli, Fritz, and then Rune.
Both players delivered strong serving performances, leading to a tiebreak in the first set. There, Sinner outplayed the Frenchman 7-4. The Italian lost just one point behind his first serve in the opening set.
Atmane held firm early in the second set, but Sinner shifted gears. At 1-1, the Italian won ten of the next twelve points, securing a break and building a comfortable lead.
Without faltering and without facing a single break point in the match, Sinner ended Atmane’s remarkable run after 1 hour and 25 minutes. He will now compete in his eighth career Masters 1000 final on Monday and his second this season after Rome.
With a potential title defense in sight, Sinner could face Carlos Alcaraz for a fourth final this year or Alexander Zverev in a rematch of last year’s semifinal at this same tournament.
Meanwhile, Atmane, the tournament’s breakout star, will head to New York, where he aims to compete in the US Open qualifiers.
