Sinner equals Federer in a closed circle in the 21st century
It couldn't have been any other way. The undisputed world No. 1 of 2024, Jannik Sinner rounded off his exceptional season with a Davis Cup title.
In the final match of his season, the Italian dominated Tallon Griekspoor to help his country win this competition for the second time in a row.
Sinner ended the year with 73 singles victories and just 6 defeats. With a winning percentage of 92.41%, this is the ninth-highest total in the Open Era.
He also won nine tournaments (including the Davis Cup), opening his Grand Slam account with victories in Australia and New York.
Sinner does as well as Federer
A sign that his year has been more than successful, the 23-year-old became only the second player in the 21st century to achieve a specific performance.
After Roger Federer in 2005, Sinner is only the second player since the 2000s to win at least one set in all his matches this season.
In a record-breaking year, he also won the ATP Finals and three new Masters 1000 titles.
Jannik Sinner will be, more than ever, the man to beat in 2025. The year will start with a bang, as he has to defend the points of his title at the Australian Open.
