Sinner in Beijing: "We're working on new things" after his US Open final loss to Alcaraz
Jannik Sinner appeared at a press conference in Beijing this Wednesday before facing Marin Cilic the following day.
The Italian was notably questioned about his level of play which he needs to elevate due to his rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz, against whom he recently lost in the US Open final.
"Well, you know, the situation I've experienced throughout this year hasn't been easy, starting with my excellent run in Australia, obviously.
After that, what happened happened. I haven't played many tournaments either, I must say. This is only my eighth tournament of the year, which isn't many.
We're already approaching the end of the year. But at the same time, we've thought a lot about that final (the US Open). We're working on new things.
We're changing many small details that I'm currently thinking about. The number of errors is indeed a bit higher for now, but I hope it will improve in a very positive way.
It's only a matter of time. Let's see how long it will take me. I don't know to what extent I'll be able to implement it on court, because training is one thing, a match is another.
We'll see. Yes, I'm very motivated. It's great to work on something new, and then we'll see how it turns out. We always try to keep moving forward."
