Sinner: "It's a shame Alcaraz isn't here"

A serene winner in his second round match in Shanghai, Jannik Sinner commented on Djokovic's presence, but also on Alcaraz's absence.
Facing Germany's Daniel Altmaier in the second round of the Shanghai Masters 1000, the Italian won authoritatively in two sets (6-3, 6-3), confirming his current excellent form. In a press conference, the 24-year-old Italian made several statements blending admiration for Djokovic, passion for the game, and an unconcealed regret: the absence of Carlos Alcaraz.
"It's fantastic. Seeing Novak play here is wonderful for the fans. I'm still at the beginning of my career and I'm happy to have the chance to play after Novak. It's good for the fans because they'll be able to enjoy good tennis in both matches.
It's a shame that Carlos Alcaraz isn't here, because he's the player everyone wants to see in tournaments. But it's always great to have Novak, and so many other good tennis players."
As a reminder, this Sunday, October 5, 2025, spectators at the center court (Stadium Court) will be treated to an exceptional evening. First, Novak Djokovic against Hanfmann (third match), followed by Jannik Sinner facing Griekspoor to close the program.
