Sinner on De Minaur: "I expected him to change something after Beijing"
Jannik Sinner defeated Alex de Minaur and secured his place in the final of the Vienna tournament.
The Italian continues to impress the tour: the 24-year-old player confirmed his superiority over Alex de Minaur, handing the Australian his twelfth defeat in twelve encounters. Nevertheless, with a score of 6-3, 6-4, Sinner had to face difficult moments, particularly when de Minaur managed to break his serve twice.
Speaking to ATP Tour microphones, he analyzed his performance, also looking back at their duel in Beijing last month (Sinner's win in the semifinals, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2):
"The first set was very physical, so I'm happy to have won in two. I expected him to change something after Beijing, but I don't want to say more. He knows what to do to put me under pressure. When you're not serving very well, you are forced to play more points.
I tried to open up the game, with a lot of small adjustments that I tried to implement in my tennis. But in the end, I'm happy with how I managed the match, especially from a mental standpoint."
Now, Sinner is preparing for the final act of the tournament, against Germany's Alexander Zverev.
