Sinner on the Davis Cup final: "Matches you want to play".
It's the day of the Davis Cup 2024 Grand Final. Holders of the title, Italy have the chance to complete the double if they beat the Netherlands.
They would then become the first nation since the Czech Republic (2012, 2013) to win the trophy twice in a row.
Opposite them, the Dutch are novices at this level. On Friday, they reached their first ever Davis Cup final, triumphing over Germany.
Led by world number 1 Jannik Sinner, the Squadra Azzurra will be the favorites for this match.
As for the man himself, he's looking forward to this final meeting of the season:
"We have the weight of an entire country on our shoulders. We're looking forward to these matches. It's the last meeting of the year for us.
We're delighted to be in the Davis Cup final. If we win, it will be incredible.
If we don't, we'll still have done a superb job," the San Candido native told the Davis Cup website.
In the history of this competition, Italy leads the Netherlands nine wins to one. The two countries met in the group stage earlier this season.
The Batavians' only success came in their first meeting in 1923.
