Sinner scares himself, then goes for a walk
Jannik Sinner had a rather unusual debut.
After a difficult start in which he seemed to struggle to get going, he then dominated the proceedings, disposing of McDonald in 4 sets (2-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-2).
Caught by the throat from the outset, the Italian then raised his game to perfection to foil an American unable to react.
In the end, the world No. 1 played a very satisfying match, and now moves on to the second round, where another American, Alex Michelsen, awaits him.
