Lorenzo Sonego made a name for himself with a spectacular move at the Moselle Open.
Facing Daniel Altmaier in Metz, the Italian had to work hard to overcome the world number 46. The result: 6-4, 7-6 in 2 hours and 2 minutes of play and a qualification for the semi-finals.
Against a very solid German opponent, Sonego had to fight hard, more than once, to win his points. As evidenced by this rally at 5-5, 15-15, on Altmaier's serve.
Indeed, while the German was clearly dominating the rally, the Italian surprised everyone by executing a splendid crosscourt forehand passing shot.
What followed? Six set points saved and a qualification into the final four where Britain's Cameron Norrie awaits him.
