Kyrian Jacquet's run in Metz came to an end this Thursday in the quarter-finals against Cameron Norrie. Despite this defeat, the Frenchman is taking away a lot of positives, especially considering he had been eliminated in the qualifying rounds last Sunday.

Speaking to L'Équipe, he stated: "Even though it's hard to see the positive side right after the match, it was extremely interesting and there is a huge amount to take away from this quarter-final. I managed to maintain a truly exemplary attitude throughout the entire match.

That's what I'm really the most proud of. And that's also what allowed me to maintain a fairly high level of play. It's extremely interesting because I was neck-and-neck with a guy who is Top 30 in the world and who beat Carlos Alcaraz a week ago.

Of course, I know every match is different, but he's still a very tough opponent. And from being 4-1 down to him in the first set to 4-4 in the third, I was troubling him, and I could feel he wasn't entirely comfortable either.

The loss in the final round of qualifying really affected me. It led to a major period of self-reflection immediately afterwards.

That's why, in my next three matches, I had a truly impeccable attitude. As a result, my level of play inevitably rose. My coach and I will have a lot of discussions to analyze this match and this week.

But this tournament has really been a wake-up call for me.

Despite top-10 ATP rankings and consistent excellence, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, and Gilles Simon never claimed a Grand Slam title, enduring mockery from French media amid Big 3 dominance. A deep dive into a talented generation defined by sky-high expectations and brutal competition.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...
