Sonego Announces Split with Coach Colangelo: "What Matters Most Is Having Had You By My Side at a Significant Moment in My Career"
After just over a year and a half of working together, Lorenzo Sonego and his coach Fabio Colangelo have ended their collaboration. The world number 39 confirmed the news on social media in recent hours.
This season, the 30-year-old player has not reached a single final on the tour, but still shone at the Australian Open where he reached the quarter-finals before losing to Ben Shelton.
"Thank you Fabio, for the dedication and passion you showed during every day we worked together. The quarter-final reached at the Australian Open will remain an important achievement...
But what matters most is having had you by my side at a particularly significant moment in my career. Your presence, the serenity and confidence you were able to instill in me helped me grow as a person and as an athlete. Thank you," Sonego wrote on his Instagram account.
