Stats – At 17, Andreeva Joins an Exclusive Circle at Indian Wells

Mirra Andreeva continues her meteoric rise. At just 17 years old, the Russian, ranked 11th in the world, has qualified for her second WTA 1000 final, and her second consecutive one after her title in Dubai against Clara Tauson last month.
This time, Andreeva has reached the final of the prestigious Indian Wells tournament. On her way, she defeated Varvara Gracheva, Clara Tauson, Elena Rybakina, and Elina Svitolina to reach the semifinals. At this stage of the competition, she defeated, as in Dubai, Iga Swiatek (7-6, 1-6, 6-3) and will face Aryna Sabalenka for the title.
At the same time, Mirra Andreeva, who continues to impress, has become the fifth player since the tournament's inception to qualify for the WTA 1000 Indian Wells final at 17 years old or younger.
Before her, Monica Seles (in 1991 at 17 years and 91 days), Martina Hingis (in 1998 at 17 years and 166 days), Serena Williams (in 1999 at 17 years and 169 days), and Kim Clijsters (in 2001 at 17 years and 283 days) had achieved this feat.
Andreeva, who will turn 18 on April 29, will aim to win the third title of her young career against Aryna Sabalenka. For comparison, among the players mentioned above, two managed to win the trophy in California. These were Hingis (against Davenport) and Williams (against Graf).
