Stats: For over a year now, De Minaur hasn't been able to defeat top 10 players
Defeated by American Shelton (7th) in the quarterfinals of Toronto (6-3, 6-4), De Minaur left Canada with yet another loss against a top 10 player. It’s a hurdle the Australian hasn’t been able to overcome for over a year now.
In fact, his last 12 matches against top 10 opponents have all ended in defeat. His last victory dates back to Roland-Garros 2024, where he defeated Medvedev in the round of 16 (4-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3).
Despite his status as the world No. 8 and his consistency on the tour, the Australian seems to struggle whenever the competition level rises. To recap, he reached the final in Rotterdam, the semifinals in Monte-Carlo, and clinched the title in Washington—but each time without defeating a top 10 player.
