Stats - Swiatek becomes a centenarian and approaches a record held by Evert

World number 2 Iga Swiatek continues on her path in Dubai. After her semi-final defeat by Jelena Ostapenko in Doha, where she was three-time title-holder, the Pole impressed in her first two rounds in Dubai.
She dominated Victoria Azarenka (6-0, 6-2) then Dayana Yastremska (7-5, 6-0), thus qualifying for the quarter-finals where she will face Mirra Andreeva this Thursday.
In her first two matches in the United Arab Emirates, Swiatek won two more sets by a score of 6-0, bringing her total to 100 sets won by this score since the start of her career, according to data collected by the X (formerly Twitter) account Game, Set and Maths.
Against Yastremska, Swiatek thus reached the symbolic milestone of 100 6-0 sets won, and has achieved this feat on 27 occasions in the WTA 1000.
By way of comparison, she has achieved this feat 29 times in Grand Slam tournaments. Last year, she beat Potapova 6-0, 6-0 at Roland-Garros.
In the Open era, the record for the number of sets won without dropping a game is currently held by Chris Evert (106).
If she maintains her momentum over the coming months, Iga Swiatek could very well surpass the American's record.
