Stats: Two French Players Reach Masters 1000 Round of 16 for the First Time Since 2019

By defeating Tsitsipas (2-6, 6-4, 6-2), Arthur Fils secured his spot in the round of 16 in Rome. This marks the fourth time this year that the world No. 14 has reached this stage in a Masters 1000 tournament.

Meanwhile, Moutet claimed his first top-10 victory to advance to the round of 16. The 26-year-old triumphed over Rune in a tightly contested match (7-5, 5-7, 7-6).

Thanks to their performances, French fans will see two players in the round of 16 of a Masters event—a first since 2019. That year, Monfils and Chardy had made it to this stage. Another notable stat: you’d have to go back to 2016 to find more than one French player in the round of 16 in the Italian capital.

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.
