Strycova to Become New Captain of Czech Republic's Billie Jean King Cup Team in 2026

Retired since the 2023 US Open, Barbora Strycova has been named captain of the Czech Republic's Billie Jean King Cup team. She will take over from Petr Pala at the end of the 2025 season.

Pala, who led the team to six victories in the competition, stated: "During the April qualifiers in Ostrava, I realized we were fielding younger and younger players, and I’m not getting any younger with them. On the contrary, I’m aging.

Barbora has done so much for the national team. We had discussed her candidacy for this role for a long time. There are more and more female captains in women’s national teams.

And now, another great player is joining them."
