Stubbs on the Sinner affair: "The way WADA has handled this case, it's a pure scandal".
Jannik Sinner added a third Grand Slam title to her trophy cabinet during the Australian Open.
Despite criticism of the handling of his doping case by the relevant authorities, the Italian managed to cope with the pressure and more than ever confirmed his position as the boss of the ATP circuit with this latest Major title.
Tested positive for clostebol during Indian Wells last year, the world number 1 was acquitted by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), but saw his case appealed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
WADA is seeking a suspension of between one and two years for negligence against Jannik Sinner. The appeal will be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on April 16 and 17.
In her podcast, Rennae Stubbs reacted to the case, saying that it was not right for the verdict to be known a few months after the ITIA's acquittal.
"The way WADA has handled this case is a scandal. How is it possible for the ITIA to tell you that you're not guilty, but for WADA to give its verdict on the same subject several months later?
They say, 'We want him to pay because his team did something stupid, but we'll wait until April.'
Are you kidding? Since he tested positive, he's played two Grand Slams, for two titles. Does WADA really think this situation is credible, that it's a good idea? I think they'll suspend him.
But in the event of him actually not being able to play for any length of time, it would reflect very badly on tennis," Stubbs said.
