Swiatek breaks silence on insults: "It's a sad reality in sports"
Following her defeat yesterday against Emma Navarro, Iga Swiatek faced a wave of hateful messages and decided to respond publicly.
Shortly after being eliminated from the WTA 1000 in Beijing in the round of 16, Iga Swiatek received numerous hateful messages on her social media platforms, including Instagram.
Faced with the influx of these comments filled with insults and criticism, the world No. 2 decided to respond by posting a story on Thursday. It shows the messages in question, along with the following caption written by the Polish player:
"Nowadays, it's a sad reality in the world of sports. Robots, betting, and also 'fans'. It's something to consider, especially since World Mental Health Day is in a few days."
Throughout the season, many players have spoken out against this scourge that plagues social media.
