Swiatek: "I'm disappointed, but Alexandrova played an extraordinary match".

Iga Swiatek was defeated in the Round of 16 on Monday in Miami. The world number 1 was no match for Ekaterina Alexandrova, who played the perfect match (see video below). This is what the Pole explained to us in a press conference after the match.

Iga Swiatek: "I'm disappointed for sure, because I thought I was going to play better here in Miami. But she played an extraordinary match and was definitely the best player on the court today. I had trouble reading her serve. I was a bit tense when I couldn't return well.

Ekaterina Alexandrova: "I just try to get more inside the court, to hit everything in front of me so that my opponent has less time. I think when it works, it's very good, and sometimes it doesn't work. But today, it worked.

This is my second quarter-final here, and I've managed it for the second year running. To beat Iga after so many attempts and she's number 1. It's the first time I've beaten the number 1. Those three things are very special for me."
