Swiatek: "To play well in a Grand Slam, you have to pay attention to everything".
Iga Swiatek defeated Karolina Muchova 6-3, 6-4 in the United Cup on Wednesday.
Thanks also to a victory in mixed doubles with Hubert Hurkacz, Poland has qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition.
At the post-match press conference, we asked her how she felt about the Australian Open, and what her priorities were.
Swiatek replies: "There are no priorities. It's not as if you can control everything.
The tournament lasts two weeks, so you know, it's not like you can really reach the top at any given time.
To play well in a Grand Slam tournament, you have to pay attention to everything. Physically, for sure, you need time after this event to recover a bit and start the tournament fresh.
But also, when you go to Melbourne, you get used to the conditions and the pressure of a Grand Slam, that's for sure.
It's the first Grand Slam of the year, so you get those sensations back and remember how to handle them.
Mentally and physically, there's a lot to work on. So there's no priority, because to play well in a Grand Slam, everything needs to be worked on."
