The chair umpire maybe wanted to be in the spotlight," Alcaraz reflects on his warning at Queen’s

During his second-round match at Queen’s, Alcaraz received a time violation warning from the chair umpire. The decision deeply frustrated the Spaniard, who didn’t hesitate to demand an explanation. In an interview shared by Tennis Up To Date, the player revisited the incident after the match. According to him, officials should show more understanding toward match situations:
"I think the rules should be changed. They also need to show a bit more tact. We played for three hours, we finished a long point at the net—they should have some tolerance and give us a bit more time. When you can’t properly prepare for the next point, you can’t play it well, so I don’t think this is best for the spectacle or for us.
Personally, I try to go as fast as possible. I don’t remember the last time I got a time violation, and in the first round, I had no issues. Today, I had several problems. I don’t understand it. I also think it’s the chair umpire’s problem—maybe they wanted to be in the spotlight—but it’s a rule that should be changed.
