"The last few weeks have been very emotional," Anisimova reflects on her Wimbledon final defeat

Amanda Anisimova is currently having the best season of her career. The 23-year-old American player won her first WTA 1000 title at the Doha tournament in February and entered the WTA top 10 for the first time in her career after Wimbledon.
In London, Anisimova reached the final, notably defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals before suffering a decisive loss to Iga Swiatek. During a pre-tournament press conference, Anisimova—who will face Léolia Jeanjean in the second round—looked back on her London campaign.
"It was so special to see how many kind messages people sent me. I received an incredible amount of support, which I didn’t expect after my poor performance.
I felt really bad because I would have liked to play a better match, or at least compete a little more, especially since it was a Grand Slam final. There was definitely that guilt right after the match.
But seeing what everyone had to say helped me put things into perspective afterward. I reminded myself of everything I had done to get there, even just in the tournament, since it takes two long weeks to reach the final.
It’s not often that you get positive feedback on social media after a loss. Everyone who reached out to me had nothing but comforting words.
It felt good to have conversations with other people. The last few weeks have been very emotional," Anisimova shared with *Tennis Up To Date* recently.
