The magnificent video tribute to Murray with Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Venus Williams at Wimbledon

An emotional moment on the Centre Court of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, where Andy Murray, Sir Andy Murray, surely played for the last time on Thursday evening. Teaming up with his brother Jamie Murray in doubles, the Scot lost to Australians Rinky Hijikata and John Peers (7-6, 6-4).

But there was more to the evening than that: a hero's farewell to his people. Murray was the one who brought the wait to an end in 2013. When he became the first British player since Fred Perry in 1936, 77 years earlier, to finally win Wimbledon.

He even repeated the feat three years later, in 2016, winning his third and final Grand Slam title. In addition to these two titles, he also won the 2012 Olympic Games on the grass of the All England Club.

Emotions ran high when, after the match, a film retracing Murray's career was shown on the giant screens (see video below). The film was accompanied by commentary from Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Venus Williams.

More than 30 years compacted into 3 minutes and 55 seconds, a condensed version of the passage of time that seems to have flown by so quickly when we agree to look back for a few moments to contemplate it. An emotion that will be hard to escape for those lucky enough to have witnessed the prowess of the Big 4 and its golden era.

I will miss you terribly, Andy. All of you. The good , bad, but never ugly. One doesn’t have to be a Brit or Scot to love you more than I. An American . You have my heart, forever.

Dear Sir Andy, I've watched you play along all your career, and yesterday was a really heartbreaking moment to see you give your farewell to Wimbledon and to played professional tennis. I suffered with you on many occasion but whenever possible I was there to sustain you from far away, from another country. I was only fortunate to see you play live at the O2 Arena back in 2009, but whether live or through television, the emotions were always the same. You have been a model of sportsmanship and a model as a person, undoubtedly a great dad and family man. You were unfortunate but also very fortunate to play during the same time as Roger, Rafael and Novak, and together you dominated the tennis scene for nearly two decades. I was lucky to have lived through that period and I very much doubt it can ever be repeated in the future. So very sorry to have witnessed your farewell yesterday but I send you my heartfelt best wishes for a happy future with your family. And as I believe you said, you wouldn't mind staying close to professional tennis as a coach. I hope you do, and I wish you every success. Bye, Andy.

A tennis player that gave 100% on and off the court. His passion for the sport was obvious but the body wasn't able to last as long as his determination. Andy has played along side three of the best tennis players in a generation and they had to give their best to beat him. Sad to see him leave the tournament who's audience lived and died along side his dreams. Andy will be remembered for his determination and love of the game!
