The Method Gauff Used to Convince Herself She Would Win Roland-Garros
Coco Gauff won her first Roland-Garros title on Saturday against world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
The American, overjoyed to have secured a second Grand Slam, revealed the method that clearly helped her make the difference on the court.
Shortly after her victory, she posted a photo on social media holding a piece of paper on which she had repeatedly written the following phrases: "I am going to win Roland-Garros. I am going to be the 2025 Roland-Garros champion."
Gauff drew inspiration from triple Olympic champion Gabby Thomas (200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m), who had revealed using this technique during the Paris Olympics last year. "Ignore my handwriting, but I saw Gabby Thomas do this, and I had to do it too," explained the world No. 2 in her post.
