The Monte-Carlo Masters Reveals Four Wild Cards for Its 2025 Edition
The 2025 Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is fast approaching. Next week, the top players on the ATP Tour will gather on the Monegasque clay courts to compete for the trophy, which Stefanos Tsitsipas has won three times in the last four seasons (2021, 2022, and 2024).
Just days before the main draw ceremony, the tournament organizers unveiled the identities of the four wild cards who will enter directly into the main draw. On March 21, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters had already hinted that Richard Gasquet would be making his final appearance before retiring from professional tennis.
This Thursday, the suspense finally came to an end as the three remaining wild card recipients were announced: Stan Wawrinka (40 years old), Fabio Fognini (37 years old), and Valentin Vacherot.
Winners at Monte-Carlo in 2014 and 2019, respectively, Wawrinka and Fognini will make their return to the Principality. Meanwhile, Vacherot, 26, who represents Monaco in the ATP rankings, will have the opportunity—just as he did last year—to compete in the main draw.
"The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is delighted to welcome these champions, who will further enhance an exceptional field featuring 42 of the world’s top 45 players, including 9 members of the ATP Tour’s Top 10," reads a statement on the tournament’s website ahead of the event in the coming days.
