The nightmare season continues for Hurkacz, withdraws from Shanghai Masters 1000

2025 is turning into a nightmare for Hubert Hurkacz, whose situation does not seem to be improving after a series of injuries.
The year 2025 is one to forget for Hubert Hurkacz. The Pole, plagued by recurring injuries, has not played a single match since his first-round victory at the ATP 250 tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch last June against Roberto Bautista Agut (7-6, 6-4).
Injured in the back during that match against the Spaniard, he subsequently withdrew before his next match against Mark Lajal. But the back was not the only part of his body that has caused the world No. 69 pain this year.
Having undergone knee surgery after Wimbledon—a tournament he therefore missed—the 28-year-old player continues his rehabilitation. Hurkacz confirmed in recent hours that he will also not be present at the Shanghai Masters 1000, which begins on October 1.
Crowned champion at this Chinese tournament two years ago, the former world No. 6 will thus be absent from Shanghai for the second consecutive season. His withdrawal benefits Ethan Quinn, who enters the main draw.
