The organization of the Indian Wells tournament unveils its wild cards for the 2025 edition

On March 5, the Indian Wells tournament will begin and will run, as every year, over two weeks. It is the first ATP Masters 1000 of the season and the third WTA 1000 for women after the tournaments in Doha and Dubai in February (won this year by Anisimova and Andreeva, respectively).
While awaiting the draw, which will take place in the coming days in California, the tournament organization has revealed almost all the players who have been invited to participate in the main draw in the American desert.
In the men's draw, Reilly Opelka, who had a strong start to the season despite a wrist injury in Brisbane where he notably defeated Novak Djokovic, has been invited, along with two of his compatriots, Nishesh Basavareddy and Tristan Boyer.
João Fonseca, a revelation at the start of the season, has also been awarded a wild card. On the other hand, Learner Tien had also received this privilege, but Nicolas Jarry's withdrawal allows him to enter the main draw.
The identity of one last player benefiting from an invitation should therefore be known soon before the start of the qualifiers.
In the women's draw, Petra Kvitova, who just made her return to the WTA tour in Austin this week, will compete in the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells in the coming days, just a few days before celebrating her 35th birthday.
Another player returning from pregnancy, Belinda Bencic, will also be in the main draw, as will Sloane Stephens, the 2017 US Open champion.
Four other American players have also received an invitation. They are Alycia Parks, Bernarda Pera, Iva Jovic, and Robin Montgomery.
As a reminder, Venus Williams, 44, had initially been chosen by the organizers, before the American champion ultimately declined the invitation a few hours later.
Finally, on its website, the organization also confirmed that one last wild card will soon be awarded for the women's draw.
