The Queen's tribute to Andy Murray!
Andy Murray has said farewell to us, or at least to professional tennis.
After many years of loyal service to the ATP, the Scot officially retired on Thursday. Beaten in the quarter-finals of the men's doubles, which he played alongside Dans Evans, Murray took his leave.
Since then, and even before that, tributes have been pouring in from some of the greatest players on the circuit, both retired and still active.
This Friday, we learn that a new honor will be reserved for him, and this time it doesn't come from one of his former comrades. The British Tennis Federation has decided to show its gratitude to the former world number 1 by renaming the Queen's Centre Court in his name.
Considered the second most prestigious grass court tournament of the season, London's ATP 500 will henceforth call its centre court "The Andy Murray Arena".
A superb honor for a player who has taken English tennis to the highest levels. A fitting way to say "thank you Andy".
