"Today's press takes statements out of context that can hurt a person," Bautista Agut addresses his controversial remarks in Alcaraz's documentary
Just hours before facing Alcaraz on the center court at Queen's, Bautista Agut revisited his comments from his compatriot's Netflix documentary. The 37-year-old player had stated: "I don’t think he’ll win a Grand Slam by going to bed at 7 in the morning." Questioned by the press, the Spaniard sought to clarify his words:
"If there’s anyone who wants Carlos to win, it’s me. He and his team know that. I have an exceptional relationship with him, and fortunately, they trust me. They were able to see the positive side even when remarks were taken out of context. Unfortunately, today’s press takes statements out of context that can hurt a person—and that hurt me too."
After defeating Rune, Bautista Agut became the third-oldest player to reach the Queen’s semifinals. His match against Alcaraz will take place this Saturday, right after the clash between Lehecka and Draper on the Andy Murray Arena.
