Toni Nadal addresses his nephew: "Rafael can't complain".
Just a few days after Rafael Nadal's official retirement, following Spain's elimination by the Netherlands in the Davis Cup quarter-finals, Toni Nadal was kind enough to confide in ATP.
The legendary coach and uncle of the Spanish champion spoke at length about his nephew's career, mentioning in particular the health problems 'Rafa' had encountered, but also how lucky he had been to live such a life: "I've seen him suffer. But I got used to seeing him suffer so many times during his life as a tennis player. He often had serious injuries, injuries that seemed to weaken him and even prevent him from playing.
As I've come to expect, I wasn't surprised to see him suffer a little at the end. In fact, even when I see him suffering, I don't think Rafael can complain because life has treated him very well."
