Toni Nadal disappointed by Nadal's performance in Malaga?
After harshly criticizing the Davis Cup organizers for their tribute to Rafael Nadal, whom he judged to be lacking in creativity and not really up to the task, the Majorcan's ex-coach was kind enough to revisit Nadal's selection as a singles player by David Ferrer, the captain of the Spanish national team.
In no uncertain terms, he explained that what 'Rafa' showed in training was far more interesting than what he offered against Botic Van de Zandschulp on Tuesday (6-4, 6-4 defeat): "I saw him train in Manacor, even play against Bautista, who came over there, and the truth is that my nephew played at a perfectly acceptable level.
I think David Ferrer must have thought the same. Usually, throughout his career, Rafa played better in matches than in training. In Malaga, it was just the opposite.
