Toni Nadal on Sinner's sanction: "I'm against it".
Toni Nadal, director of the Majorca tournament, which takes place from June 22 to 28, has announced the presence of Casper Ruud, Gaël Monfils and Nick Kyrgios at his tournament.
During the presentation, he was asked about Jannik Sinner's three-month sanction for doping.
He replied: "I've already said and explained on several occasions that I'm against the sanction.
I know Sinner personally and he had no intention of committing a crime, and you can't treat a person like that for a mistake that happened by chance.
You have to punish someone who intentionally does the wrong thing and seeks his own gain.
And I know that's not the case with Sinner. I know he didn't benefit from what they found.
So why do you want to punish him? It's true that some people who aren't number one have been sanctioned because they've made mistakes before.
I'm surprised that various players have taken a stand against it, even some at the highest level and others who aren't very clean either."
