Towards a Kyrgios comeback at the US Open?
Nick Kyrgios is one of the most popular tennis players on the circuit. A true tennis prodigy, the Australian is used to stirring up the crowds with his marvellous winning points and somewhat provocative attitude.
Yet the 29-year-old hasn't played a competitive match since the 2023 Stuttgart tournament (7-5, 6-3 loss to Yibing Wu). Having recently resumed training, Kyrgios had given no indication of a possible return to competition.
That said, the vagueness surrounding the date of a possible return may now have been dispelled, at least in part. The US Open has just announced, on its social networks, that the whimsical Australian will be taking part, alongside Naomi Osaka, in "fan week". Organized just before the American Grand Slam, this exhibition serves as an amuse bouche for the tournament.
Does this confirmed participation augur well for Kyrgios' participation in the US Open? To be continued...
