Tsonga: "People talk negatively about the sport I love".

Retired from the courts since 2022, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has expressed his disagreement with the current management of the FFT, and more particularly with its president, Gilles Moretton.

In an interview with Var-Matin, the former French champion didn't mince his words: "I'm tired of people talking about the sport I cherish most through stories of embezzlement.

Because of certain people, we're talking negatively about the sport I cherish."

As a reminder, last November, the former French No. 1 presented his candidacy for the post of captain of the French Davis Cup team.

However, the FFT preferred Paul-Henri Mathieu to him, a choice that left Tsonga perplexed: "I've been told about conflicts of interest between my activities and this position."

The day after the French team's premature elimination from the Davis Cup, beaten in the group stage, the Frenchman was quick to point out the dysfunction within the federation: "There's clearly a problem. When nothing works, you have to ask yourself the right questions."
