Stats - Monfils, second Frenchman to have played the most finals in the Open era

Gaël Monfils is unstoppable. The 38-year-old Frenchman has qualified for the final of the ATP tournament in Auckland in the last few hours.
After beating Nishesh Basavareddy (7-6, 6-4) for the second time this season, the 52nd-ranked player in the world will attempt to add a 13th title to his record against Zizou Bergs this Saturday.
Thanks to this success, La Monf' continues to write his name in the legend of French tennis. He is now set to play the Belgian in the 35th ATP final of his career.
Since the beginning of the Open era, only Yannick Noah is ahead of him (36) in the French clan. He is nevertheless ahead of Richard Gasquet (33), Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (30) and Gilles Simon (22).
Moreover, since 2005, the Frenchman has contested at least one final every season, with the exception of 2024. He will be aiming for his first trophy since Stockholm at the end of 2023.
A sign of his longevity, Monfils is the 5th most successful player to have reached a final, behind Novak Djokovic (141), Daniil Medvedev (38), Marin Cilic (37) and Alexander Zverev (36).
