Monfils beats Basavareddy to reach Auckland final
Gaël Monfils faced Nishesh Basavareddy in the semi-finals of the ATP 250 Auckland tournament on Friday.
The two players had already met last week in Brisbane. As in Brisbane, Monfils came out on top, 7-6, 6-4.
The Frenchman thus qualifies for the Auckland final, where he will face Zizou Bergs, who came from behind to beat Nuno Borges in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.
Monfils will be aiming for his 13th career title this Saturday, the last coming in Stockholm in October 2023.
