Casper Ruud is at home at Roland-Garros. A finalist in 2022 and 2023, the Norwegian is hoping to do at least as well this year.
Already a title-winner in Barcelona and Geneva this season, the world number 7 got his tournament off to a perfect start. Facing qualifier Meligeni Alves, Ruud didn't need to force his talent (6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in 1h55). Very strong (23 winners, 18 unforced errors, 0 break points conceded), he left the helpless Brazilian no option.
With the French Open shaping up to be more indecisive than ever, Ruud could well take advantage of the opportunity to pull off a huge coup this year. Next up for him is a second round tie against the winner of the duel between Davidovich Fokina and Vacherot.
