This is what we call a winning comeback. Absent from the courts for several weeks, Carlos Alcaraz disposed of Alexander Shevchenko with ease (6-2, 6-1 in 1h08). The Spaniard played a match of the highest quality, leaving his opponent no room for error (breaking 7 times).
The two-time Madrid title-holder took advantage of the occasion to record his twelfth consecutive victory at the Caja Magica. Only Nadal did better with 14, not bad for a 20-year-old.
In the next round, the Spanish prodigy will take on Seyboth Wild (63rd in the world), who defeated Musetti (6-4, 6-4).
