Untouchable, Sinner beats Dimitrov to reach the semi-finals!
Jannik Sinner is the first to qualify for the semi-finals. After suffering a hip injury, he arrived in Paris in a state of uncertainty. However, any doubts were short-lived. With a string of solid victories, he qualified for the semi-finals with almost no effort at all.
And yet, although his first four wins came against opponents well within his reach, the quarter-finals were expected to be a much tougher affair. Against a confident Grigor Dimitrov, the Italian was never really troubled. Taking advantage of a rather disappointing Bulgarian (33 winners, 48 unforced errors), he recited his tennis, putting a lot of intensity and length into his shots (29 winners, 20 unforced errors).
The only fly in the ointment was the debreak he conceded when serving for the match.
Be that as it may, he'll be going into Friday's semi-final as the favorite to win the title. He is still waiting for his opponent: it will be either Tsitsipas or Alcaraz who will have to do battle this evening.
